OpenEdge from Progress Software
TrackiT Now has been developed using one of the world's leading application development platforms, OpenEdge, from Progress Software, a United States software company that specialises in development platforms and tools for software developers.
The OpenEdge products that we most commonly use in developing and installing TrackiT Now for our clients are OpenEdge Studio, which provides the tools needed to develop the TrackiT Now software programs, and the OpenEdge Workgroup Database, which stores the data created by the TrackiT Now programs.
The primary benefits of using OpenEdge are rapid application development using OpenEdge Studio, and an extremely robust database, which is essential for retaining the integrity of the data created by the TrackiT Now programs. In addition, the database is highly scaleable. The OpenEdge Workgroup Database is suitable for companies that require up to around 40 concurrent users, ideal for small to medium-sized enterprises (SME's). But if the SME grows and requires more than 40 users, the Workgroup database can be upgraded to the OpenEdge Studio Enterprise Database, which provides for concurrent access for thousands of users.
Progress Software also provides tools to allow software developers to develop in other mainstream languages, such as Java, which is often used to develop applications accessible over the Web.
Linx Advanced Distribution Systems
Linx is the Software Services partner for TrackiT Now, and is the primary provider of the Software Services described on the “Our Services” page of this Website.
A Melbourne-based software development company, Linx employs around 30 software professionals, including business analysts, software architects, programmers and testers.
Linx has extensive experience in software development using Progress OpenEdge, the same application development platform as TrackiT Now, and in Crystal Reports, which is the report writer recommended for use by TrackiT Now. Linx also has extensive experience in developing front-end screens in Java, a popular application development language often used for applications that require user access over the Web.
Since the 1990's, Linx has been active in developing manufacturing and distribution systems for both large and small companies, working with several third-party products, some of which have been developed in Progress OpenEdge. From 1999 to today, Linx has been a primary software developer for the Toll Transport Group, developing the freight management functionality required for several of Toll's business units.
